We are growing rapidly and our Supply Chain team is seeking a talented Director, Supply Chain Project Implementation (West Coast) to join the team! In this highly collaborative role, the Director will lead a team responsible for the execution of the Supply Chain distribution and network strategy, supporting significant store and sales growth.
The successful candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, consulting, or project management, with proven experience in managing and implementing complex distribution center material handling automation and related software systems. Experience leading a team is required; retail industry experience strongly preferred. Minimal travel outside the distribution campus.
Major Responsibilities include: Lead and manage a team of project management professionals focused on the implementation of product storage and material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new, and expanded distribution centers. This effort includes identification and installation of specific facility and MHE requirements to support vendor supplied systems. Lead execution of the five year Supply Chain distribution and network strategy to support store and comp sales growth, including, but not limited to, implementation of new distribution centers, retrofit/expansion of existing centers, and all additional modifications as necessary Contribute to the design of material handling solutions and the selection of vendors/external partners. Direct project managers in project execution, capital budget tracking, and post-project results confirmation. Aid development of high-level potential solutions to future shortfalls and provide feedback on existing systems and equipment repairs and end-of-life replacement. Collaborate on Supply Chain project implementation with internal partners and provide regular updates on capex forecasting, budgeting/accruals, fixed assets, IT needs, and new building site requirements Manage relationships with external resources (consultants and contractors) to ensure collaborative partnerships that meet business requirements Contract administration, supplier/contractor management and collaboration with Procurement in negotiations Provide strategic thinking and support for other initiatives as they arise Additional Requirements Include: Experience running large scale material handling capital projects for a nationwide distribution network, including management of significant capital budgets Solid understanding of engineered labor standards and labor management programs Well versed in team education, training and facilitation of supply chain principles BS Industrial Engineering/Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience Facility and material handling systems design from design through implementation Experience in Warehouse Control and Execution Systems functionality and implementation Financial Analysis for Project Justification Manhattan Associates and Dematic Supply Chain suite preferred Experience in facilities and material handling equipment & automation maintenance & repair a plus Burlington is committed to being an employer of choice.
