Job OverviewBPS Bioscience Inc. is a leading provider of
recombinant proteins, assay kits, and recombinant cell lines for
drug discovery. We are seeking an exceptional scientist, with a
strong background in enzymology, enzyme kinetics, protein/protein
interactions, and fluorescence and luminescence-based assays.The
Senior Scientist I will work in a laboratory environment,
conducting research and experiments for non-clinical research.
He/She will be a pivotal member of R&D Team supporting team
scientific research tasks to expand company product portfolio. This
person will work closely with a team of scientists to help develop
novel or to improve existing biochemical in-vitro and cell-based
assays. His/her duties will include enzyme characterization,
enzymatic assay development, protein/protein interaction assays,
and assessing enzyme inhibitor potency and mode of inhibition
mechanism. This person is expected to drive the effectiveness of
research and maintain a high level of expertise through the study
of scientific literature, knowledge of competitors' products, and
attendance at seminars.The candidate must be experienced in
enzymology and assay development and other biochemical and
molecular biology techniques.This person should be able to work
independently with minimum guidance and perform experiments to a
very high standard, troubleshoot technical and scientific problems,
and effectively progress multiple projects
simultaneously.Responsibilities:
- Propose, plan, and manage research projects related to
development of biochemical and cell-based assays.
- Assess new technologies and future applications of technologies
to expand company product portfolio.
- Developing project-specific experimental strategies and
techniques and executing established procedures (Designing
experiments, performing compound screening, assisting other groups,
and interacting with customers through electronic means).
- Supporting R&D Team in identification and monitoring new
trends, concepts and original approaches for key pathways and hot
targets for drug discovery.
- Supporting transfer of technology to QC and Screening service
Teams as well as supporting these teams in their routine work.
- Troubleshooting and conducting processes for assays
improvement.
- Preparing research reports/ presentations and presenting
findings at regular team meetings, brainstorming meetings, and for
external audiences.
- Attending a scientific conference to gain knowledge of new
research areas and translate to our new product lines.
- Maintaining excellent working relationships with partners
throughout the company.
- Maintaining updated and well-organized lab notebooks.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.Requirements:
- A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology,
Cell Biology, or a related field with several years of Industry
experience or postdoctoral training is required.
- The candidate must have proven experience performing enzyme
kinetics and assay optimization.
- Hands-on experience with various biochemical enzymatic assays
and in vitro protein-protein binding assays (ELISA, AlphaLisa,
TR-FRET, FP etc) is essential.
- Previous hands-on experience in developing cell-based assays is
preferred but not required.
- A background in cell culture is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards
exploring new approaches.
- Must be able to work independently with supervision as
needed.
- Adaptable / Flexible - willing and able to adjust to multiple
demands and shifting priorities and meet day-to-day challenges with
confidence and professionalism.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective
presentation of complex scientific data to cross-functional teams
and senior level scientists.
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and organizational
skills with the ability to take a hands-on approach to work
effectively in a dynamic and collaborative, fast-paced
environment.
- Strong teamwork-oriented, open to collaboration with internal
and external collaborators.
- Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism).Benefits!
