POSITION SUMMARYUnder general supervision, the Clerk II performs a wide variety of general clerical duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. This position is characterized by a wide variety of general clerical duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. This position is characterized by a high degree of confidentiality and independent action required in the performance of day-to-day duties. The incumbent must be computer literate, able to maintain confidentiality and work overtime as directed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Resolve discrepancies2. Receive the public and answer calls determining how incoming calls should be routed3. Direct people to appropriate offices4. Answer routine questions, receive complaints, and explain routine procedures, processes or departmental activities5. Assist the public in completing forms and finding information6. Schedule appointments7. Obtain factual information to create or update client files8. Type a variety of documents in draft and final form, including correspondence, contracts, charts, and reports from handwritten, recorded or printed sources9. Proofread materials for completeness, correct grammar, spelling and punctuation10. Type on personal computer; type narratives in numerical format11. Prepare, validate, process and/or check a variety of documents such as bills, statistical records, personal records, requisitions, and invoices for completeness and accuracy12. Compile routine reports by extracting and/or tabulating information from variety of sources, such as files, correspondence, logs, client status and other source documents into an electronic database13. Compose correspondence following general instructions or outlines14. Sort and/or file materials such as correspondence and client information15. Maintain cross reference files and conduct systematic file archiving16. Convert paper files into an electronic database17. Follow developed or adapted work procedures to carry out directives18. Recommend new procedures, design, revise or install a filing system19. May take dictation for routine letters, memos, or telephone messages20. Operate a variety of office equipment, including multifunction printer, fax machines, shredders, computer equipment and various software21. May perform standard equipment maintenance checks22. May drive a CAPSBC/personal vehicle for official business purposes23. May serve as a lead worker in training, assigning, prioritizing or reviewing the work of other employees24. May be required to work overtime25. Provide vacation and temporary relief as required26. May perform other assigned duties as requiredKNOWLEDGE OF1. Basic math2. Communicate and deal diplomatically with persons from varied social, economic and cultural backgrounds9. Operate standard office equipment, including various computer hardware and software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook Exchange, E-mail)MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE1. Equivalent to graduation from high school.2. One (1) year of recent paid responsible office clerical experience, preferably within a Social Service Agency and demonstrated fulfillment of the knowledge and ability sections.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSBilingual English/Spanish speaking ability is desired.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $15.52 per hourBenefits:
