Tree Island Steel operates in Canada under Tree Island Industries Ltd and in the United States under Tree Island Wire (USA) Inc.Job SummaryThe Packer is responsible for packing nails into boxes from the collator line, stacking completed boxes onto pallets and ensuring that the quality of the nails are up to our specifications.Job Responsibilities* Packing collated nails from 2 machines into boxes between 35 and 60lbs* Assist operator when necessary* Operate forklift to remove completed pallets* Operate a staple gun* Set up machine which includes glue and plastic* Load and operate bulk feeder assemblies* Stack packed boxes onto pallet* Assemble cardboard boxes* Apply proper identifying label * Inspect strips of collated nails prior to packing into cardboard box* Pack strips into box and close* Stack completed boxes on pallet* Accurately record and report all production* Adhere to ICC procedures as outlined in the Company's Quality Manual* Maintain cleanliness of work area and observes all Company and safety rules* Perform other tasks and duties as assigned* Be flexible with schedule; Days, Swing or Grave and be able to work overtime as neededQualifications* 2 Years manufacturing experience* Basic computer knowledge* Able to lift 65 lbs* Must be a team player* Good communication skills* Must speak and read English* Forklift certification a plus* Must be able to work any shift (Days, Swing or Graveyard)* Must be able to work overtime and weekends as neededPhysical Requirements* Overall Strength: Medium to heavy work, exerts force and/or carries objects frequently weighing up to 75+ lbs* Walking: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Sitting: Seldom except break or lunch* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Pushing/Pulling: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Bending/Stooping: Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)* Reaching: Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) extend hand and arms in any direction* Handling: Constantly (2/3 or more of the time) seize, hold, grasps, turn or otherwise work with the hands* Seeing: Constantly (2/3 or more of the time), obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color or other characteristics of the objects* Can stand on feet for up to 2 hours continuouslyThank you for your interest in Tree Island; only short listed candidates who meet the qualifications will be contracted.
