Reports to: Clinical Pharmacist or Clinic Nurse Manager
Supervises: N/A
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist or Clinic
Nurse Manager (or Primary Care provider if appropriate), the
Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing pharmacy and /or
clinic support for the InnovAge – Program of All Inclusive Care for
the Elderly (PACE).Physical attendance at an InnovAge facility
and/or an InnovAge participant home is essential to performing the
job duties.
Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities
Functional Category: Pharmacy SupportEstimated Percent of time
Spent – 100%•Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from the
computer including but not limited to: patient demographic
information and medication data entry.•Processes the delivered
pharmacy orders when available.•Assists in the maintenance of the
inventory of medications that is sufficient to operate the
clinic/pharmacy.•Answers the telephone, transferring calls to the
appropriate individual.•Removes outdated, damaged and recalled
merchandise and prepares for return.•Maintains all clinic or
pharmacy areas in a clean, neat, and orderly manner, including
maintenance of supplies at an appropriate level.•Performs various
clerical duties as necessary.•Prepares requested OTC medications to
be delivered to the participant for final review by a licensed
Clinic staff member.•Ensures that medications for participants are
packaged, labeled and ready for delivery by the Pharmacy Courier in
a timely manner, when appropriate.•Tracks medication receipts
received from the Pharmacy Courier and communicates with the
pharmacy to ensure that participants received their medication(s)
in a timely manner•Reviews newly printed Medication Administration
Records (MARS) and assesses and corrects information to ensure that
data is current with physician orders in the electronic medical
records•Places reviewed MARS in appropriate binders and perform a
second check of new MARS in comparison to the previous month's MARS
and in comparison to medication in the cart.•Performs other duties
as assigned or as necessity dictates.

REQUIRED
Education•High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience and Qualifications•Must have one year experience
working in a pharmacy•Current state registration with the Board of
Pharmacy is required
PREFERRED
Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation•Pharmacy
Technician certification from either the Institute for the
Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) or the Pharmacy
Technician Board (PTCB)•Pharmacy certification preferred
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities RequiredComputer Skills•Must
be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Outlook.•Must be able to quickly learn specific software
and new applications.

conclusions and compile accurate reports.

Physical Demands /Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust possess mobility to work in a standard office
setting, or clinical setting, and use standard office equipment,
including a computer, and medical equipment; vision (close
distance, long distance, depth and peripheral) to assess emergency
situations, including medical incidents and to read printed
materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to
communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.
Depending on assignment, standing in work areas and walking between
work areas may be required, and travel to visit various cultural,
physical, behavioral and environmental settings may be required.
Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data
using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and
to operate standard office and medical equipment. Positions in this
classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and
pull drawers open and closed. Reasonable accommodations will be
made for individuals on a case-by-case basis. May require use of
wheelchair, medical equipment, gait belts, sliding board, bedside
commode, shower equipment, and other work aids
WORKING CONDITIONSEmployees primarily work in an office environment
with moderate noise levels and fluctuating indoor temperatures.
Employees may work outdoors and are occasionally exposed to loud
noise levels and cold and/or hot temperatures. Incumbents may be
exposed to blood and body fluids while working in a Center.
Employees may interact with members of the public or with staff
under emotionally stressful conditions while interpreting and
enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
STRESS FACTORSMay require working under stressful conditions with
pressure to meet scheduled deadlines. There may be distractions
such as phone calls, work interruptions, and communication from
co-workers and participants with the need to respond and intervene
appropriately to multiple interruptions.
