outlets.Our San Diego, CA location is seeking an experienced
Product Development Engineer to join our talented team. The Product
Development Engineer reports to the Head of Engineering for
Bushnell Golf. The Product Development Engineer will join the
dynamic team that develops best in class ranging products for the
Golf market. The Product Development Engineer will work with the
Product Line Managers to define project proposals and evaluate bid
responses. The Product Development Engineer will work with
development partners in the development of the product, write and
conduct test procedures to evaluate product and project progress,
communicate to the organization the release readiness of the
product, and provide technical support for sales and customer
service.The Product Development Engineer role provides the
opportunity to travel, work with engineers on leading edge designs,
and educate the broader organization on the detailed functionality
of our products.Being successful in this role will require a solid
understanding in technical products, product development, project
management, and software. The ideal candidate will also be
comfortable creating detailed product specifications, developing
and executing test procedures, assisting in the creation and
modification of product concepts and design, providing input on UX
and software flow and functionality, and will support in the
development of training materials (video, manuals, presentations,
etc). The Bushnell Golf Product Development Engineer will be
intimately familiar with all technical product specifications and
as such could be asked to help prepare product demonstrations,
engineering calculations, and research.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Product Line Manager, external vendors, and internal
resources to define and develop products for a successful and
timely release.
- Work with Product Line Manager to define product and
features.
- Create detailed specifications for product.
- Define features and functional operation for product.
- Work with external vendors through the development cycle to
address issues, provide direction and clarity, and assure schedule
adherence.
- Provide project management for the project. Build project
schedule, track progress to schedule, project schedule variations,
and work to correct schedule variations. Communicate to team and
overall organization schedule status.
- Develop test plans to verify product is meeting requirements
and validate product meets customer needs. Execute test plans and
confirm successful completion has been achieved prior to product
release.
- Define regulatory requirements for the project. Work with
vendors to confirm regulatory testing has been successfully
completed. Confirm necessary regulatory information is
appropriately placed on product and packaging.
- Maintain development issues list. Prioritize issues and
communicate issues to vendors and internal organization. Work with
vendors to resolve issues. Track issue metrics as a confirmation of
schedule progress.
- Provide documentation and procedures on development products
for Quality.
- Define release readiness requirements. Track and communicate
release readiness status to organization.
- Provide sustaining support for products in the market. Work
with internal and external resources to monitor field quality and
quickly resolve issues.
- Work with team for competitive product assessment.
- Maintain Technology Roadmap. Create list of concept
technologies and features. Work to ready concept items so that they
are available when slated project starts.QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of experience in technical capacity in product
development, preferably with Consumer technology/electronics,
consumer sporting goods.
- 4 year Engineering degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical,
SW engineering or Systems.
- Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software
development processes.
- Experience with software development and App development
preferred.
- Experience with Bluetooth development preferred.
- Experience in Optics product development preferred.
- Experience in working with overseas vendors.
- Team player, with good ability to work independently and take
leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to work within high
functioning cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous
innovation is a way of life.
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, to back up
assumptions and develop business cases.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to
help your team win.
- Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product,
our business, and the competitive landscape.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented with a history of solving unique,
complex problems that have a broad, interconnected impact on the
business.
- Interest in technology in sporting goods and outdoor
products.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
MS Project) and use of computers.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Fluent in English. Multilingual preferred. Multilingual
including Chinese a plus.Pay Range: $97,700.00 - $152,900.00The
actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on
variables including experience, geographic location, education, and
skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time
